Pay with crypto using Shakepay

New to crypto? No problem. Shakepay is a trusted Canadian app that lets you buy Bitcoin straight from your bank account and send it to complete your order. This guide walks you through it, start to finish — about 10 minutes the first time.

Before you start

  • A Canadian bank account — Shakepay funds are added by Interac e-Transfer.
  • A piece of government ID — required once, to verify your account.
  • Your phone — Shakepay works best as a mobile app (iOS / Android).

Set up

Download Shakepay & create your account

Get the Shakepay app from the App Store or Google Play, then sign up with your email and phone number.

  1. Complete the quick identity verification (a photo of your ID and a selfie). This is standard for any Canadian financial app and usually takes a few minutes.
  2. Once verified, your wallet is ready to use.

Add money

Fund your account with Interac e-Transfer

In the app, tap Add funds and choose Interac e-Transfer. Send the amount you want from your online banking to the address Shakepay shows you.

Funds typically arrive within minutes. Add a little more than your order total to comfortably cover the small network fee (see the safety notes below).

Buy

Buy your crypto

Tap Bitcoin in the app, then Buy. Enter the dollar amount and confirm. The crypto appears in your Shakepay wallet instantly.

Buy the same coin your order asks for at checkout. If the payment screen shows Bitcoin, buy Bitcoin — not a different coin.

Checkout

Place your order & open the crypto payment screen

Add your items on Blue Buddah, choose Crypto / Bitcoin at checkout, and you'll see a payment screen with three things:

  1. A wallet address (a long string of letters and numbers) and a QR code.
  2. The exact amount of crypto to send.
  3. A countdown timer — the price is locked in for that window.

Keep this screen open on your computer or another device while you complete the next step on your phone.

Send

Send the payment from Shakepay

Back in the Shakepay app:

  1. Tap the coin you're paying with, then tap Send.
  2. Scan the QR code from the checkout screen — or copy the wallet address and paste it into the "To" field. Double-check the first and last few characters match.
  3. Enter the exact amount shown on the payment screen.
  4. Choose a speed (Fast or Normal) and tap Send.
  5. If Shakepay asks you to confirm by email, open the email and click the confirmation link to release the payment.

Wait for confirmation

The checkout screen updates automatically once the network confirms your payment. On-chain Bitcoin usually takes 10 minutes to about an hour depending on network traffic and the speed you chose.

You'll receive an order confirmation as soon as it clears. You can safely leave the page once it shows "payment received" or "confirming."

Three rules that keep your money safe

Match the coin and network exactly. Send the same crypto the checkout requests, on the network it shows. Sending the wrong coin or network can permanently lose the funds — no one can reverse it.

Beat the timer. The checkout locks in a price for a set window. Send before the countdown ends. If it expires, just start the order again to get a fresh amount and address.

Send the exact amount, and mind the network fee. Shakepay shows any network fee before you confirm — review the total. If the checkout later flags a slight underpayment, it's usually the fee; follow the on-screen prompt to send the small difference.

Common questions

Is Shakepay safe and legit?
Yes. Shakepay is a Montreal-based, registered Canadian money services business used by millions of Canadians. You keep full control of your funds, and it's regulated under Canadian financial rules.
How long does the whole thing take?
Setting up and verifying your account takes about 10 minutes the first time. After that, paying an order takes just a couple of minutes plus the network confirmation time (typically 10–60 minutes for Bitcoin). Future orders are much faster since your account is already set up.
What does it cost?
Adding funds by Interac e-Transfer is free. When you send crypto, there's a small network fee paid to the blockchain (not to us) — Shakepay shows it before you confirm. Choosing Normal speed instead of Fast usually costs less.
Which coins can I pay with?
Use whatever the checkout screen displays for your order — that's the coin and network we accept: Bitcoin. Always match it exactly.
I sent it but my order still says "waiting" — what now?
Blockchain payments need network confirmations, so a short delay is normal. In Shakepay, open the transaction and tap View on the blockchain to see its status. If it shows as confirmed but your order hasn't updated after an hour, email us at Info@bluebuddhaco.ca with your transaction ID (TXID) and we'll sort it out.
Can I use Shakepay on a computer?
Shakepay is designed as a mobile app. The easiest flow is to keep the checkout open on your computer and scan its QR code with the Shakepay app on your phone.
